Operating System
FACT.pilot and SAP R/3 are compatible with all current operating systems. Thereto belong for instance Windows NT, Unix and Linux. The data bases can be – in dependency from the operating system - Microsoft SQL 7.0, Oracle, DB2 or SAP DB.
A typical SAP system contains of a three-tier-system consisting of presentation, applications and data base tier.
The presentation tier is responsible for the communication with the user. All data will be edited graphically and provided to the user within its screen. The opposite around the presentation tier is sending all user entries to the application tier.
The application tier is the central component of each SAP R/3 system: Here are taken place all calculations, analyses etc. For this purpose all necessary data are coming from the data base tier and will be provided to the presentation tier after all calculations are made. The application tier thus has the function of being a connecting link between the presentation and the data base tier.
The data base tier is responsible for the data allocation to all available and activated applications.
